Spooky season means it’s the perfect time to tune in to all things horror, gross and gory, and what better way to do so than with your favorite zombie shows? From post-apocalyptic dramas with intense and dramatic stories that expand across years and years to those with a more lighthearted approach to the world of the undead, these are seven of our favorite zombie shows to date.

The Walking Dead (2010—2022)

The television series based on the successful comics has garnered a cult following over the years, and the storytelling and characters it has brought us make this a top-tier zombie show. The show starts with a group of survivors going through the motions after a deadly apocalypse alters life as it was. As the series progresses and those remaining adapt, human conflicts prove to be just as prevalent as zombie conflicts. Watch it on Netflix and Pluto TV

The Last of Us (2023—Present)

While the main threat of this series isn’t exactly zombies, this post-apocalyptic drama starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey has proven to be a first-rate television series. A rapidly spreading fungal infection turns much of the world’s population into zombie-like monsters, and the duo at the forefront of the series must survive the threats that loom, both human and undead. Watch it on Max

Fear the Walking Dead (2015—2023)

A spinoff of The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead follows a family from Los Angeles who must learn to navigate the deadly apocalypse that has taken over while also balancing their unique family dynamic. Watch it on Sling TV, Netflix and AMC+.

Z Nation (2014—2018)

After the zombie apocalypse has taken over the world, one survivor must make his way from New York to California to the last existing lab in the hopes of creating a vaccine. Watch it on Tubi, Pluto TV and Sling TV.

Black Summer (2019—2021)

This dark, post-apocalyptic series puts a group of strangers together as they attempt to survive when the world as we know it comes to an end. The storytelling is gripping, keeps you on the edge of your seat and is perfect for a spooky season weekend binge. Watch it on Netflix

iZombie (2015—2019)

A medical resident who turns into a zombie does her best to pass as human—by whatever means necessary. Taking on a job at a coroner’s office allows her to feed as a means of survival, but once she learns she temporarily acquires the memories and personality traits of those whose brains she consumes, she uses her skills for good, solving crimes by tapping into victims. Watch it on YouTube and Apple TV

Santa Clarita Diet (2017—2019)

A family’s happy life gets turned upside down when the matriarch, played by Drew Barrymore, one day finds herself with a craving for human flesh and no heartbeat. Officially undead, they navigate their new existence as a family, accommodating her needs as best they can. Watch it on Netflix
