Was Tori Spelling’s Dancing With the Stars Elimination Rigged?
During the September 25 episode of Spelling’s Misspelling podcast, she discussed her DWTS elimination. It was a surprising moment for her, in part, because she initially thought she was safe from going home. It quickly hit her that she and Anna Delvey were eliminated, however.
Her manager, Ruthanne Secunda, joked that an “investigation” should be conducted. “I think it’s an outrage,” Secunda said, demanding a recount, as they both laughed about the idea. “I’m calling 60 Minutes to do an investigation… definitely a glitch in the system.”
Spelling and her Dancing With the Stars pro partner Pasha Pashkov had to say goodbye, unfortunately. “If airlines can be grounded from a glitch, there could have totally been a glitch in the voting for Tori,” Secunda said. “I’m suspicious.”
Spelling asked if there could be a “ballroom recount” just to be sure. “I really didn’t have a gut instinct that we would be voted off,” she said. “Listen, I’m a realist. I came into this with no dance experience and I didn’t expect to win the Mirrorball.”

All joking aside about the recount, Spelling shared that she was grateful for her time on the show. “What an unbelievable experience. This is all such a new territory for me, and I had such an incredible experience,” Spelling explained. “There’s so many things dancing through my head right now, you guys, so many thoughts, so many feelings. I guess the big word is just gratitude. Honestly, I loved every second of this experience.”
She continued, “I’m not gonna lie… Did I want to stay longer? Duh. Yeah, I wanted to keep dancing, I wanted to keep living! The ballroom gave me such a new take on life and such joy that I wanted to keep going. I felt like I was just getting started.”
“Someone has to go home,” Spelling admitted about the unfortunate outcome. “There has to be eliminations.”
She said she “felt zero competition” among the contestants, pointing out the “unconditional love” and support she experienced. “I will miss that. I made such great friends that I hope to stay in contact with,” Spelling said.
The actress also touched on the significance of dancing to “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman, calling it a “family anthem” for her and her kids.

Spelling revealed that she put a lot of effort into the dance competition — unfortunately, she didn’t get a chance to grow over the course of the season. “You know, I felt like I improved, I took their notes last week,” she said. “I worked really hard to move past the ‘timid Tori’ that Carrie Ann [Inaba] had called out, and I feel like I achieved that with this dance, because I felt really confident with this dance.”
Spelling continued, “I felt really good about myself, and that’s all I could do, right? And I got to show off my flexibility. I’m really flexible, and I was like, That’s my strong suit. I got to do some moves and, I don’t know, they weren’t easy. The choreography, it was challenging, and I worked through it and did it and owned it, and I’m really proud of that. But you know, you can’t control how people vote.”
