Tori Spelling's 'disgusted' and 'horrified' husband goes off on commenter asking why they 'let their kids get so fat'
Tori Spelling documented a happy reunion with her former Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star Ian Ziering and their families, but the comments — many critical of the appearance of Spelling’s kids — were anything but.
The actress shared a snap from a screening she and Ziering’s wife, Erin, hosted of the family-friendly flick A Dog’s Way Home. Mentioning the old 90210 connection, Spelling went on to say how nice it was that she and Ziering are still close and that their kids — seven between them — “adore each other.” But it didn’t take long for some commenters to ruin the good vibes — and Spelling’s husband, Dean McDermott, to lash out at the vitriol.

“I’m getting so mad about this,” someone who goes by moosstigter wrote in one comment that has 59 likes. “Why do you let your kids get so fat? You advertise slimming products yourself. See how shabby they look.” The posted comment ended by telling Spelling the kids look “neglected with clothes that are too small.”
This was just one of the comments. There were several others (and more in addition to these):
With the upsetting conversation blowing up in the comments, McDermott, Spelling’s husband since 2006, stepped in to defend his brood: Stella, Hattle, Finn, Liam and Beau. He described himself as “horrified and disgusted” by the chatter. “Body shaming and bullying my children??!! What is wrong with you people??!!”
McDermott — an actor and reality star alongside his wife — explained that the kids went “from a long day at school to the movie. And I don’t know any child that is not disheveled at the end of the day.” He said that before the photo was taken, they were “wrestling” and “running around,” so “I apologize we didn’t get the iron and steamer out to make them perfect for you.”
He continued, “[They’re] kids. They’re messy and dirty. That’s what they do.” And to a critic who apparently mentioned they looked like they had on clothes from Target, he asked “What’s wrong with shopping at Target? The way they grow out of clothing so quickly is astounding. Are we supposed to shop at Gucci? These are kids folks. Messy stinky little bundles of fun, laughter and love.”
He called the criticism of their weight “mean” and “uncalled for,” writing, “They’re going through different growth phases, and even if our children are on the bigger side, who cares. They’re happy and healthy and I’m sorry they don’t look like skinny supermodels. People come in all shapes and sizes So who are you to judge.”
McDermott ended the post by saying the nasty commenters should be “ashamed of yourselves for passing such horrible judgement on innocent beautiful children. Shame on you all!!!”
Sadly, this isn’t the first time that the couple lashed out over negative comments about their kids. In September, Spelling fired back at trolls who called the kids “raggedy'” and “unfit” in their back-to-school photo. This all comes amid a time that hasn’t been that easy for Spelling. Earlier last year, she had a “breakdown” reportedly due to the stress of her marriage, finances and kids.
One of the things Spelling is hoping will pad her bank account is a possible 90210 reunion project with Ziering and some of their old co-stars, including Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green and Jason Priestley.
