Trading Spaces Reboot Will Get Another Season — But One Designer Isn't Returning
Trading Spaces will stick around for another season, but one of its designers won’t.
TLC delighted fans of the classic house-swapping makeover series when the network announced in March 2017 that it would be rebooting the show after ten years off the air. All of the designers and carpenters who appeared in the original run (plus a few new faces) signed on for the long-awaited 9th season, which debuted in April 2018.
On Monday, TLC confirmed the show will return for another season, its 10th, on March 16 at 8pm ET/PT. (Watch the trailer above.)
This time, host Paige Davis and the designers will take on some unconventional spaces including teachers’ lounges, attics, basements and the homes of twin sisters and ex-spouses.

“Trading Spaces is a long beloved show and we are happy to bring the fun, banter and unexpected transformations back into everyone’s living room,” Howard Lee, President and General Manager of TLC and Discovery Life said in a release. “This season, fans can look forward to seeing accessible design transformations and the unexpected reveals that make our show so much fun to watch.”
The lineup of designers for the new season is Doug Wilson, Frank Bielec, Hildi Santo Tomas, John Gidding, Kahi Lee, Laurie Smith, Mikel Welch, Sabrina Soto, and Vern Yip. The carpenters will be Brett Tutor, Carter Oosterhouse, Joanie Sprague and Ty Pennington. Noticeably absent from the lineup is original designer Genevieve Gorder.

Gorder, 44, became engaged in February 2018, to boyfriend Christian Dunbar, 46, a furniture designer and model. The pair married in a desert ceremony in Morocco in September in front of friends like What Not to Wear makeup artist Carmindy and fellow Trading Spaces designer John Gidding.
In August, the designer also debuted a new Netflix series, Stay Here, in which she helps homeowners transform their not-so-successful vacation rentals into highly sought after accommodations.
She also teased a forthcoming “top secret” Bravo project, telling PEOPLE in October, “I wish I could say, I can’t. It’s really exciting. I was very excited to take the job. Something new.” She added, “There will be an incredible amount of designers that are familiar to you from all aspects of life and television. It feels like this interesting graduation of sorts.”

Gorder also hinted that the show may go beyond the simple makeover format. “I can say that the show incorporates a lot of my different powers that I haven’t been able to use in a show before. I’m in charge of a lot of things, that’s what I can say.” That project, Gorder says, should debut in 2019.
Season 10 of Trading Spaces premieres March 16 at 8pm ET/PT on TLC.
