The Traitors continue to dominate as the best reality show of the year with yet another Emmy Award, this time being recognized as the winner of the Outstanding Reality Competition Program category.

The show’s host Alan Cumming took the stage to accept the award, thanking the show’s enthusiastic viewers. “We are so grateful because we’re a new show, and when you like something, you tend to stick to it, so we appreciate it all the more.” Cumming also shouted out Peacock, saying it’s great to be a part of a new streaming service.

“I also want to thank Holland because so many of these shows, like The Traitors, were first made up in Holland,” he continued. “They obviously have something in the water, so let’s find it, drink it, and all of America’s problems will be solved.”

At the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Cumming also won for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program, beating out RuPaul from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Jeff Probst from Survivor, Kristen Kish from Top Chef, and a number of hosts from Shark Tank.

“I can’t tell you how much I love doing it. I get to play this crazy character, in this really fun game. Everybody loves it, it pays really well, I get to go to Scotland, and it doesn’t take too long to shoot,” Cumming told Rolling Stone back in June. “It’s completely surprising, but I’m really happy with it in my life.”

The Traitors, which streams on Peacock, skyrocketed in popularity last year. After winning an Emmy Award in 2023 for Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program, the show’s second season was a major topic of conversation amongst TV viewers. The show and its hilarious, lovable cast members were at the center of endless memes, with talents like Phaedra Parks and Chris “CT” Tamburello delivering iconic one-liners and moments. The Traitors even became the number one viewed unscripted series on streaming platforms.

Executive producer Toni Ireland told Rolling Stone earlier this year, “We’re so happy with how well it’s been received by the audience. I think Season One was really well received, too, and for it to progress and find more viewers is really exciting for us. I think this year, with the celebrities that we got on the show, they played it better than ever.”

Following the show’s growing popularity, The Traitors was renewed for a fourth and fifth season. Over the summer, a new cast of traitors and faithfuls filmed Season Three in the Scottish Highlands, including Vanderpump Rules’ Tom Sandoval, Britney Spears’ ex-husband Sam Asghari, and Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause.
