Transformers One Is “The Best Transformers Film to Date” Say First Reactions

A studio screening a movie two months before release outside of festivals is pretty rare, but it seems that Paramount know they have a hit on their hands in Transformers One and couldn't wait to start generating that early buzz.

Early fan screenings are happening worldwide, and despite the lukewarm reaction to the unique trailer launch, which had Optimus Prime and Megatron flying (literally) sky high, it seems the trailer didn't let on how brilliant the upcoming film is.

Matt Neglia of Next Best Picture even said the film "is by far and away the best Transformers film to date", which is a bold statement considering how beloved the franchise is.

Neglia revealed that the film is "rich in character & emotion with a deep reverence for the lore" and says, "Josh Cooley directed this animated film to perfection, down to the last comedic and action beat".

Discussing Film's Andrew J. Salazar was also in attendance and says, "the 3D animation is gorgeous and the action is, frankly, unbelievable at times" which seems to be a common theme through the first impressions.

Perri Nemiroff also praised the animation, saying she is a "big fan of the animation style used for this one. Great balance of CG vibrancy with texture and detail".

Transformers One serves as an origin story for fan-favorite characters Optimus Prime and Megatron, known to fans as sworn enemies.

However, Transformers One takes us back to when they were friends who were once as close as brothers and changed the fate of Cybertron forever.

Collider's Steven Weintraub says the film features "a script that works for die hard fans and kids that don't know anything about [Transformers]".

Sydney (@CountVolpe on X) said, "as someone who is a more casual fan I had a giant smile on my face by the end."

The overwhelming hype from people who are huge fans of the franchise suggests that Transformers fans can safely get hyped for September 20 when Transformers One crashes into theaters.
