Travis Kelce Makes Bold Comparison Between His and Brother Jason Kelce's Athletic Skillsets

Travis Kelce believes that he and his older brother, Jason Kelce, are “two completely different guys” when it comes to the way they each approach athletics.

Travis, who was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013, and Jason, who retired from the NFL in March after spending his entire 13-year professional football career with the Philadelphia Eagles, answered questions about football, their podcast and more during an appearance at a Sport Beach event held during this year’s Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in Cannes, France.

The brothers spoke as part of a panel, called The Kelce Effect, on Thurs., June 20. Clips from their discussion were later shared on social media by Stagwell, the marketing company that hosts Sport Beach.

“You know, Jason, he’s a bit of a Neanderthal,” the Chiefs tight end began before describing himself as more akin to “one of those high-class prima donna athletes everyone talks about.” The comparison drew laughter from several people who had gathered to hear the football stars speak.

The brothers are “two completely different guys from the perspective, of, like, if you watch us out on the field,” Travis, 34, continued.

Despite those differences, Travis said their familial similarities are more apparent when they’re not out on the football field. “In reality, if we’re sitting down at a table in front of you, you’re gonna see that we’re brothers,” he said.

Travis and Jason made history in 2023 when they became the first siblings to face off on opposite teams at a Super Bowl. A year after the Chiefs defeated the Eagles, Travis’ team won another Super Bowl earlier this year, defeating the San Francisco 49ers and becoming the first team since the New England Patriots in 2005 to win two consecutive Super Bowls.

Though Jason, 36, decided to walk away from the game as a professional player, he and his younger brother have continued to discuss the sport on New Heights, the podcast they host together. Meanwhile, Travis has shrugged off discussions of retirement and joked during a recent podcast episode that he will “never” leave the game.

“I’m never doing it. Not after that speech, dude,” Travis said at the time. “I don't want to go through that."
