Travis Kelce Reveals Why Taylor Swift Vetoed His Original Eras Tour Cameo Idea
Taylor Swift's fans went wild when her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, stepped onto the Eras Tour stage during a London tour date, rocking a tuxedo and helping Swift transition into the song "I Can Do It With A Broken Heart."
Now, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is opening up about how the special moment came to be, revealing that he originally had a different idea for his stage debut.
Travis and his brother Jason addressed the situation on the Wednesday, July 3 episode of their podcast, New Heights, with Jason addressing how, during the third night of the London Eras Tour, "something magical happened...Somehow, you made your way onto the Eras stage."
Explaining how it came to be, Travis said that he first suggested another idea to Swift: "I initially mentioned it to Tay. I was like, 'How funny would it be if I just rolled out on one of the bikes during the 1989 era?'"
"She started laughing. She was like, 'Would you seriously be up for doing something like that?'" he recalled. "I would love to do that! Are you kidding me? I've seen the show enough, might as well put me to work here," he told her.
Of course, Travis' cameo ended up being a little different from riding a bike during the 1989 section of the show, with the football star admitting that his original idea was vetoed for safety reasons.
"She found the perfect part of the show for me to come in," Travis said of Taylor. "There was no bike in case I ran into somebody else or hit one of the dancers or anything. It was the safest option."
He went on to call Swift a “true showman" and praised Kam and Jan, the two dancers who performed alongside him during his Eras Tour experience, before hinting that he might make a return to the stage at some point.
