Travis Kelce Teases Wearing More Exclusive Air Jordans on Sunday

As Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs look to maintain their undefeated record during Sunday’s road game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the star tight end is dropping hints about which special sneakers he may lace up for the walk-in.
Ahead of Sept. 22’s win over the Atlanta Falcons, Kelce was spotted strolling into the stadium in a black Lemaire double-breasted blazer with an extremely rare pair of Air Jordans on foot. The all-red “Legends of Summer” Air Jordan 3 Retros were created exclusively for Justin Timberlake during his 2013 tour with Jay-Z. For someone who’s known for wearing hyper-scarce styles, the “Legends of Summer” look is one of Kelce’s most exclusive sneaker sightings yet.
But he’s not done. In the latest episode of the New Heights podcast with his brother Jason, Kelce revealed that he and close friend Harry Clark have an ongoing theme with their pre-game footwear.
“We’re wearing [Air Jordan] Retros for every game,” Kelce said on his podcast. “This week will be Retro 4s, so be on the lookout, man. I don’t know which ones I’m going to wear yet. I’m going to go ahead and see what exclusives I can find either in my closet or online real quick. Then throw a fit together for it. But join along Chiefs Kingdom. If you want to join us, we’re rocking 4s this week.”
Before Sept. 15’s win over the Bengals, Kelce was spotted arriving in an Air Jordan 2 player exclusive from 2008 which was issued to former NBA star Ray Allen. And ahead of the Chiefs’ first win of the season against the Ravens on Sept. 5, Kelce wore a slightly more attainable pair: the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Varsity Red” from 2015.
Kelce’s “Legends of Summer” Air Jordan 3s were produced in extremely limited numbers and featured luxurious materials including snakeskin in place of the traditional elephant print, stingray leather and premium suede uppers. In 2022, a size 10 pair sold in a Sotheby’s auction for $18,900.
“I like different textures, that’s why I love these shoes,” Kelce said of the Air Jordans 3s on his podcast. “That and I know Justin Timberlake, that’s my dog.”
In addition to the Air Jordan 3, other “Legends of Summer” pairs created exclusively for Timberlake included three versions of the Air Jordan 1 High and an all-red Air Jordan 2. None of the pairs have ever been released to the public, however the black-based Air Jordan 1 High appears to be the most widely available based on its resale market value.
