Following the release of his Air Jordan 1 Low “Medium Olive” sneaker, Travis Scott shared a star-studded promo video making light of the difficulties of landing a pair.
Christopher McDonald, who played Shooter McGavin in “Happy Gilmore,” is joined by Chevy Chase in the spot posted Sunday to Scott’s Instagram account. In it, McDonald attempts to make a putt in order to win a pair of Scott’s AJ1 Lows — only for Chase to pull up in a golf cart and take on the role of a bucket-hatted similar to the one who haunts Adam Sandler’s character in the 1996 comedy. Chase is wearing the shoes himself, as well as a Cactus Jack-branded bucket hat.
The Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low “Medium Olive” released on Saturday —the day prior to the video going live — and, of course, sold out in its wide network of retailers. On resale platforms such as StockX, the sneakers are typically fetching at least $400, which is more than twice the retail price of $150.
Scott also posted campaign photos featuring soccer superstar Vinicius Jr. wearing the sneakers on Sunday in a curious one, two punch of marketing after the release had come and went. Sneakerheads will be hoping the late promos mean another drop is on the way.
2024 has been a major year for Scott, as his line of Air Jordan collaborations has continued alongside the debut of his first two signature sneakers, the Jordan Jumpman Jack/CJ1 T-Rexx and the Nike Zoom Field Jaxx. The latter shoe got a shock drop during the MLB Home Run Derby and is expected to get a wider release soon.
