Travis Scott, Kylie Jenner address Astroworld tragedy on Instagram: 'Absolutely devastated'
Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner are speaking out after Scott's Astroworld concert turned fatal, leaving eight dead and "scores" injured.
Officials declared the Houston concert a "mass casualty incident" after getting called Friday evening to the festival that took place at NRG Park. An estimated 50,000 people were in attendance at what the festival's website considered a sold-out show.
Scott released a statement Saturday morning saying he is "devastated" by what occurred.
"I am absolutely devastated by what took place last night," the rapper, a native of Houston, wrote on Twitter. "My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival. Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life."

Scott started the concert festival in 2018 months after the release of his third studio album of the same name. According to a news release from concert organizers, the show has been sold out every year since its conception. This year the festival tickets sold out in less than an hour without any performers being announced.

This is the third Astroworld concert as there was no concert in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
"I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support the families in need. Thank you Houston PD, Fire Department and NRG Park for their immediate response and support," Scott added.
Later Saturday, Scott posted a distraught update on his Instagram Stories. "I just want to send out prayers to the ones that (were) lost last night. … You know my fans … really mean the world to me and I always just want to leave them with a positive experience and any time I can make out anything that’s going on, I stop the show and help them get the help they need."

Jenner, who shares 3-year-old daughter Stormi with Scott and is expecting their second child, spoke out Saturday night in a statement on her Instagram Stories, writing that she and Scott were "broken and devastated."
"My thoughts and prayers are will all who lost their lives, were injured or affected in anyway (sic) by yesterday's events," she wrote. "And also for Travis who I know cares deeply for his fans and the Houston community."
Jenner also addressed backlash over an Instagram Stories video she posted from the concert, in which the camera panned over the crowd and caught what seemed to be an emergency vehicle with flashing lights.
"I want to make it clear we weren't aware of any fatalities until the news came out after the show and in no world would have continued filming or performing," she added. "I am sending my deepest condolences to all the families during this difficult time and will be praying for the healing for everyone who has been impacted."
Festival organizers released a statement Saturday morning saying they are working with officials, and that the second day of the concert would "no longer be held."
"Our hearts are with the Astroworld festival family tonight – especially those we lost and their loved ones," the statement on Twitter read. "We are focused on supporting local officials however we can."
