Trevor Jackson Is Ready To Create A “T-Mix” With Cover Queen Chl?e

Trevor Jackson wears many hats, including actor, musician, and more recently, “viral sensation.”

Known for his roles in productions like Grown-ish, Superfly, the recently released This Is Me…Now and more, the multifaceted star has been keeping his fans well entertained with his weekly “T-Mixes” and singles.

Most recently, Jackson garnered a ton of feedback for his extra passionate cover of Tyla’s Grammy-winning song, “Water,” where the 27-year-old dug into his 90’s R&B bag. Since then, he’s kept up the momentum with his reflective single, “James Dean,” two new “T-Mixes” — 21 Savage’s, “Prove it” and Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” — and a teaser for his next delivery, “Heads Up.”

While speaking with VIBE recently, Jackson revealed that he wouldn’t mind possibly teaming up with another viral remixer, Chl?e Bailey, for a collaboration.

“I would love that,” he beamed. “You guys ask her next time you talk to her. I think the schedules just haven’t allowed, but that would be sick.” He also added that he wouldn’t just want to sing a cover of a song, but actually put their pens together to create a masterpiece.

“We probably would write [because] she’s creative like me,” he spoke of the “Treat Me” singer. “We probably would sit down and write something fire and go from there.”

Chl?e recently dropped a cover to Muni Long’s “Made For Me” which saw a ton of great feedback on her rendition of the tune.

For Jackson, he also received lots of praise for singing Eilish’s Barbie soundtracked song, which he said helped him through some traumatic times.

“In December I lost one of the closest people to me and 2 days after Christmas I snapped my achilles in half. I was in a really dark place mentally and lost hope for a lot of big things I had planned for the year — film projects, a tour etc…” he captioned the cover. “I was in shock when it all happened … and if I’m honest I lost hope in myself…who I was …..and what I was meant to do…”

“Billie talked about how writing this song helped her get out of a really dark place, and thanks to her vulnerability, her song got me and so many through our own dark times,” he continued. “I hope that this motivates and inspires any one who feels overwhelmed by the pressure this life can apply. Here’s the sign to not lose hope and Remember, when it gets complicated; God never gives us more than we can handle, and nothing, and no one, can stop God’s plan.”

Speaking of the his weekly videos where it’s just him and a mic, he added, “People really been paying attention with the T-mixes and just knowing that I do music for real. This is my life. When you guys mentioned the best in R&B, I want to be mentioned. You know what I’m saying? I feel like I’m boundless and limitless in terms of what I want to put out into the world, and hopefully that inspires, whether it’s fans or other artists to do the same thing.”

As for now, Jackson and Bailey don’t have a T-Mix in the works, but the two are gearing up for the final season on Grown-ish.

“You can expect what we’ve seen every season, but obviously a little more intense, just the growth from everybody,” he teased. “Everybody’s growing up. Everybody’s becoming adults, which is scary. There’s no training course for getting older. It kind of just happens. You wake up and like, ‘Ooh my back. Sh*t.'”

“And that’s what I admire from the show. I think it helps bring people together and that’s what I want to do with my music,” he added. “That’s what I want to do when I’m on set. Even in just my regular, every day-to-day life. I like to just make people feel seen, feel loved. That’s what I want.”
