Trevor Noah blames Roseanne’s racist tweet on Donald Trump
The Roseanne reboot will not be returning for another season, as ABC canceled the show because of a racist tweet Roseanne Barr posted about Valerie Jarrett, a former senior adviser to President Obama. Some fans are angry with the network and think it was quick to cancel the show because Roseanne is an unabashed Trump supporter. On The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Noah said he believes the blame falls squarely on Trump himself.
“That’s right, Roseanne’s show [was] canceled because she tweeted out racist stuff. You know who I blame for this? Donald Trump. That’s who,” Noah said. “Because he makes all of his supporters think they’re as impervious as he is. Yeah, he’s just like, ‘Come on, everyone, you can tweet whatever you want! Nothing happens!’ Yeah, but it’s not the same for everyone else.”
I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.

Roseanne has since apologized for the tweet. Jarrett responded to the tweet and the subsequent cancellation, calling this a “teaching moment.”
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah airs weeknights at 11 on Comedy Central.
