Trina McGee’s Adult Children Learned Of Her Pregnancy Through Social Media
Trina McGee’s pregnancy apparently took everyone by surprise — her adult children included.
The Boy Meets World actress is currently expecting her fourth child with husband Marcello Thedford, but her three older children — Ramia, 31, Langston, 29, and Ezra, 25 — found out about their new sibling through social media.
“I put something on Facebook. I didn’t think it was a big deal, and I said, ‘I’ll call the kids later. They’re grown. They have their own lives.’ So I speak to them maybe once a week on Sundays, normally. Now, we’re speaking a lot more,” she explained to PEOPLE. “Two of them found out through the [social] media, and one of them was really pissed. It was just a matter of a couple of hours of a slip.”
Despite their initial reaction, McGee says that “we’re all good now” and her pregnancy has “jolted us all into really talking and being together.”
Her growing bundle of joy has also allowed her to become closer to other loved ones.
“My mom’s calling me a little bit more. My bestie from childhood has been calling, and we’ve been interacting,” said McGee. “That’s what I really love about what babies do. They do have a tendency to bring families together and people who haven’t spoken in a while together. That’s the beauty of it.”
McGee considers her pregnancy to be a “miracle,” and credited her holistic lifestyle to her being able to conceive her new baby “completely” naturally. She later noted how her husband of 16 years is her biggest supporter and he reacted to the baby news “so lovingly.”
The New York native is currently 12 weeks along and doesn’t want to learn of her child’s gender until birth. In the meantime, she and Thedford are preparing their home for their first child together.
“We’re building a lot of stuff on our home, and I’m envisioning like a playroom house. My ideas keep getting bigger and bigger,” she teased. “I just saw this jungle gym I want to put in the backyard […] All of that preparation is just so wonderful.”
In addition to the baby updates, the couple is set to open up Quawe Farms and Retreat — “a new three-day wellness retreat which intends to create a ‘stress-free environment’ for attendees while teaching them ‘how to be stress-free'” — in Belize and launch its online shop in July.
