Rodman began playing soccer when she was a toddler, and she was in high school when she began to be courted to be a soccer pro. She never played a single college game, in part because when she attended Washington State University in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic led the season to be canceled.
Rodman then went straight to the National Women's Soccer League in 2021 and was just 18 years old when she was drafted No. 2 by the Washington Spirit—the youngest player ever drafted for the league.
In 2022, she signed a $1.1 million four-year extension with the Spirit, making it the richest contract in the league's history, according to The Washington Post. Rodman told USA Today, "I'm not trying to say I shouldn't have got it, because I did work very hard. But it was hard for me to work through the fact that all these players who had put their blood, sweat and tears in for 10-plus years, who had been to World Cup and the Olympics, didn't get it. It was so hard for me to understand. I truly was just like, 'What? Me? It took that long?'"
In 2023, she competed in the FIFA World Cup for the first time with the USWNT, and in 2024 competes for Team USA in the women's soccer tournament.
