Ah yes, the time has come to listen to the U.S. president discussing with his lawyer how to pay off a Playboy model with whom he allegedly had an affair. (Hint: the answer is "cash.") In fairness, Donald Trump wasn't quite president yet when Michael Cohen recorded their conversation about how to silence Karen McDougal, who says she had an extramarital fling about a decade ago with the man now bringing dignity and class to his office as he makes America great again. It was a few weeks before the election. CNN obtained the recording Tuesday night, and it is...something:

There are a few main takeaways here:

  • It was Trump who insisted Cohen pay in cash, not Cohen as Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani insisted this week. Shocker: Giuliani lied.

  • Notice the mobster lingo flying in the recording. "I need to open up a company for the transfer of all of that info regarding our friend David," Cohen says, likely referring to David Pecker. The aptly named chief of American Media, which owns the National Enquirer, oversaw a "catch-and-kill" on McDougal's story, where the outlet bought and then buried the tale. Nothing like hearing the President of the United States talk to his fixer about our friend with that thing.

  • The most Trumpian moment by far, though, is when he yells at someone to BRING HIM A COKE.

Happy Wednesday Eve! What exciting developments lie in store for the republic tomorrow?
