Comedian Wanda Sykes is upfront about her feelings regarding President Trump.
The world just laughed at @realDonaldTrump and his horse shit. Stay tuned, they might go full “Showtime at the Apollo” on him.😂 https://t.co/nQPsRnynWE

Still, some people in the audience for her show Thursday at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, N.J., were dismayed when she told jokes about politics.
Sykes was heckled, and then about 20 people walked out. It was a real scene, according to the local Asbury Park Press: “The walkout erupted in the theater lobby with yelling and heated arguments as attendees turned against staff and against each other. Some show-goers demanded refunds from staff, others protested being thrown out of the venue, and still others argued with each other over politics and whether Sykes’ subject matter was appropriate.”
The material that set people off was Sykes’s dig at the claim that Trump made about the reason why world leaders laughed during his speech Tuesday at the U.N. General Assembly. He said that officials had been laughing with him and not at him, after he made the grandiose statement that his administration has “accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country.” Sykes reportedly cracked, “What was the joke he told?” She also said that while most presidents age quickly in office, Trump’s presidency is causing all Americans except him to look older.
The trouble started early on in the routine, with one person yelling that Sykes’s set was “too political” and another instructing her to “do some comedy.”
The L.A. Times noted that it was “unclear if the hecklers walked out or were removed by theater staff.” However, a few of the people who walked out of the show told the Asbury Park Press that they did it because they disagreed with the removal of one of the hecklers; theater staff did not comment.
Either way, Sykes wasn’t too broken up about it.
Bunch of people heckled @iamwandasykes at her Count Basie Theatre for doing a significant amount of material about our…current political climate.
Her response: “What do you expect? I’m a black lesbian.”

She told the remaining audience members, “What do you expect? I’m a black lesbian,” and offered a peek on Instagram at the sizable crowd that remained.
