Trump calls incorrect Fox Business graphic on approval rating 'great news' — and Twitter has thoughts
Fox Business host Lou Dobbs displayed a graphic Wednesday night showing that a recent Georgetown University poll had President Trump’s approval rating at 55 percent, and that was later shared by the President himself. The only problem is, the graphic was incorrect.
Great news! #MAGA pic.twitter.com/haZ1HbVpNu

The poll actually shows that President Trump’s “overall unfavorable rating has remained steady at 55 percent,” while his approval rating was at just 41 percent.
Viewers were quick to respond on Twitter, including the Director of Georgetown Politics, to point out the error.
I’m the Director of @GUPolitics & this graphic is incorrect.
The Battleground Poll shows 58% approval on the economy.
But it shows only 43% overall approval, & 52% disapproval.
The 55% number is the President’s unfavorable rating. (Only 40% favorable.)https://t.co/a00b6ljiJl https://t.co/nntXuHaUKj— Mo Elleithee (@MoElleithee) April 11, 2019
Well this is awkward.

Wrong.. go read the poll again.

Great numbers. Just a shame that they are incorrect

I believe this is a real example of "fake news".

What great news? What poll?
You’re losing in generic ballot in every poll against a Dem, most with under 40%.
Your average approval in all polls is 41% to 43%.— Michelangelo Signorile (@MSignorile) April 11, 2019
Despite the error, some viewers shared in the president’s joy over the numbers.
Congratulations Sir!
55% and 58% is really 75% and 78% when you add in the skewed polling and fake news!— CC (@ChatByCC) April 11, 2019
🇺🇸AMERICA IS PROUD OF YOU MR PRESIDENT AND WE STAND UNITED AND SUPPORT YOU 100% 🤜🇺🇸🤛

And while Trump’s tweet remained up as of Thursday afternoon, even Fox News corrected the poll on Thursday morning during a segment with White House correspondent Kevin Corke.
“There was actually a typo in that graphic,” Corke said. “The 55 percent approval rating should have been 55 percent disapproval.”
