Tucker Carlson claims New York Times wants to 'injure' his family by exposing where he lives
Tucker Carlson ended the Tucker Carlson Tonight broadcast on Monday by lobbing harsh accusations at the New York Times. Carlson claimed the Times was planning to expose where he lives to hurt his family, even going so far as to suggest the paper wants his family to get physically harmed. The Times has denied Carlson’s allegations.
“Last week, the New York Times began working on a story about where my family and I live. As a matter of journalism, there is no conceivable justification for a story like that,” Carlson said, adding, “So why is the New York Times doing a story on the location of my family’s house? Well you know why: To hurt us. To injure my wife and kid so that I will shut up and stop disagreeing with them.”
If his address was to be exposed, this wouldn’t be the first time. Carlson and his family were forced to move after his old address was made public and an anti-fascist group showed up outside his house in 2018.
“Two years ago, a left-wing journalist publicized our home address in Washington. A group of screaming ANTIFA lunatics showed up while I was at work,” Carlson said. “They vandalized our home, they threatened my wife. She called 911 while hiding in a closet.”
The New York Times claims that Carlson was told before he made the accusation on air that it was not pursuing such a story and had no plans to. Following the broadcast, the paper released a statement reading, in part, “The Times has not and does not plan to expose any residence of Tucker Carlson’s, which Carlson was aware of before tonight’s broadcast.” But Carlson alleged otherwise.
“The story about where we live is slated to run in the paper this week. Editors there know exactly what will happen to my family when it does run,” Carlson said. “I called them today and I told them, but they didn’t care. They hate my politics. They want this show off the air. If one of my children gets hurt because of a story they wrote, they won’t consider it collateral damage, they know it’s the whole point of the exercise. To inflict pain on our family, to terrorize us, to control what we say.”
And despite condemning the publishing of personal information, Carlson threatened to do to the New York Times staff what he claims they were going to do to him.
“What if we published the home address of every one of the soulless robot editors at the New York Times who assigned and managed this incitement of violence against my family?” Carlson asked. “What about the media editor, Jim Windolf? We could do that. We know who they are.”
The hashtag #IStandWithTucker began trending on Twitter soon after the broadcast, with tweets split between fans raging against the New York Times and others showing support for Carlson amid the sexual harassment allegations levied against him and fellow Fox News host Sean Hannity in a lawsuit made public earlier in the day. Others accused Carlson of fabricating the Times story to take attention away from the lawsuit. Carlson made no mention of the sexual harassment allegations.
