Twitter loves re-creation of Gianni Versace's coming-out interview

This week, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story episode titled “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” focused on two very important interviews about being gay: One was extremely public, and one was literally in the shadows.

Gianni Versace (édgar Ramírez) told sister Donatella Versace (Penélope Cruz) that he wanted to go public with his sexuality. When she asked, “Why now?” he responded, “I was sick. And I didn’t die. I have a second chance. It’s a miracle that I’m alive. And yet, I ask myself every day, what have I done to deserve this? Why am I still here? To be afraid? No. I’m alive and I must use it.” Meanwhile, Navy officer Jeff Trail told at-the-time friend Andrew Cunanan, “I can’t explain it. It’s something I need to do. I can’t explain it any better than that.”

The episode culminated in a scene featuring a side-by-side comparison of Versace and Trail’s coming-out interviews, and fans on Twitter were loving the creative edit, which seamlessly drew the parallel between two vastly different men.
