Two Royal Family Members Are Reportedly Trying To Get King Charles' Attention With This Subtle Move
In 2024, royal engagements are way down due to the health crises of King Charles III and Kate Middleton. Their cancer battles have also caused Queen Camilla and Prince William to tackle lighter appearance schedules with Princess Anne bearing a third of the weight for the royal family so far this year, per The Telegraph.
It’s a frenetic pace for a 73-year-old woman, who has a strong call to royal duty, but is someone who deserves a break, too. That’s why two younger members of the royal family are reportedly trying to get the attention of Charles because they believe they would be valuable assets during the palace’s time of need. That’s where Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie enter the chat. The young women have been amping up their charity work lately, now that they know that mother Sarah Ferguson’s own health issues are under control.

“I get the impression Beatrice and Eugenie are stepping up their charity work, and dropping subtle hints to the King that they would be willing to take on some royal duties if asked,” royal expert Phil Dampier told the Daily Mail. “The King recently took over some 300 patronages from his mother and father, but it’s a big workload, especially as he’s battling cancer.” He believes that with “palace approval,” Eugenie and Beatrice would be great ambassadors for the royal family. “I think it could be arranged so that they [Beatrice and Eugenie] take on some non-controversial roles with worthy causes like hospitals, schools, and even the military,” he added.
As great as Dampier’s proposal sounds, it is exactly what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle proposed back in 2020. “I think Bea and Eugenie could do some minor roles, but the problem is it’s difficult to be half in and half out of the royal firm, as Harry and Meghan have discovered,” he noted. But royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams doesn’t believe Eugenie and Beatrice will have any luck with changing their uncle’s mind about royal duties — and it might have everything to do with the alleged misdeeds of their father, Prince Andrew. “I think it would have been a different situation if Andrew had not been in disgrace,” he told GB News, via the Express, in January. “But as it is, I don’t think that is likely.”
The only person whom everyone seems to agree on is Lady Louise, the daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. “There might be the possibility of Lady Louise Windsor [becoming a working royal] once she has finished her studies,” Fitzwilliams added. That leaves Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie iced out by the palace even though they seem willing and able to step up and help the crown.
