Tyla’s 2024 is already off to a great start. On Tuesday (Jan. 16), the South African star earned her first RIAA-certified platinum record with her smash hit, “Water.”

The amapiano tune was released in July 28, 2023, and quickly took social media by storm thanks to its viral dance challenge. Since then, the 21-year-old remixed the song twice, first with Travis Scott and then with Marshmello.

“Water” has been on the Billboard Hot 100 for 14 weeks and is currently sitting at its newest peak position at No. 7. Tyla has performed the record on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Vevo DSCVR, the season finale of The Voice, and most recently, in Times Square for the New Year’s Eve celebration.

The “Been Thinking” singer is gearing up for the release of her self-titled debut project, which is expected to make landfall early this year. So far, fans have been able to enjoy “Water,” “Butterflies,” “Truth Or Dare,” and “On And On” from the album.

“Everything that’s happening has surpassed anything I could have dreamt of. African music is going global and I’m so blessed to be one of the artists pushing the culture,” the singer wrote on Instagram along with the LP announcement.

“I’ve been working on my sound for 2 years now and I’m so ready for the world to hear it. I cannot wait for the world to experience an African popstar. Go wild, Tygers.”

Shortly after TYLA is revealed to the world, fans will have a chance to see the songs performed live during the supporting tour that is set to follow. The 27-city trek kicks off in Oslo on March 21 and winds through the United Kingdom and Europe for its first leg. The North American portion of the tour begins on April 22 in San Fransisco and hits major markets like Houston, Atlanta, Toronto, and more.
