Tyler, The Creator Brings GOLF To Louis Vuitton Capsule Collection
Tyler, the Creator is bringing his GOLF clothing line’s aesthetic to his first Louis Vuitton capsule collection.
Pharrell tapped Tyler to design a Louis Vuitton collection, according to WWD. The collection is the first standalone collaboration during Williams’ tenure as LV’s menswear creative director. And P gave his protegé the keys to the fashion house to go crazy.
Tyler reimagined the famous Vuitton monogram motif, dubbing his version the Craggy Monogram. The newly minted pattern is one of the collection’s focal points, appearing on fleece jackets, collectible cereal bowls, a limited edition Courrier Lozine 110 travel trunk, and more. Hues of browns matched with light blue. Burgundy, and lime greens adorn many pieces in the collection, as well.
Other items in the capsule collection include varsity jackets, cross-body bags, slacks, blazers, shorts, sandals, keychains, trucker hats, denim jackets, and more. Much like Tyler’s own GOLF line, his take on the historic fashion house’s look reflected his love for pastries and dogs.
Pharrell spoke to WWD about his decision to enlist Tyler, the Creator for the collection. He insisted that it was the California native’s willingness to do “something interesting and different” that he wanted to bring to LV. “Tyler has been my close friend and collaborator for years. I admire his eye and we’ve always connected on music, fashion and jewelry. He doesn’t shy away from doing something interesting and different,” Williams said.
“Everything that Tyler does is thoughtful and authentic. We’ve done something completely new with this project that merges our two worlds, and the outcome is uniquely LV,” Williams continued. “This collection fuses our vision with Tyler’s universe through the codes of Louis Vuitton.”
Louis Vuitton also detailed their collaboration with the IGOR musician as “an instinctive union.”
Tyler hit social media to celebrate his win. He gushed about the experience of being inside the LV offices and couldn’t believe he got the opportunity to work with Vuitton.
“A Louis Vuitton collection by Tyler Okonma. Hand-drawn monograms, wavy soles, waffle and butter sandals, dogs, pastel colors, all that. I wanted to mix my style, and Louis Vuitton codes together in a way that felt slightly whimsical but could still be worn to the gas station on a Tuesday,” he typed on Instagram. “What an experience being in that office, imagination running wild. have you seen that chessboard?!!!! I had a real late night editing these photos, I’m happy to finally share this collection and lookbook with you guys. Still cant believe it.”
“P is really a guardian angel in my life, for 22 years,” he added on X/Twitter.
The Louis Vuitton Spring 2024 men’s capsule by Tyler, The Creator will be released globally on March 21.
