Tyler, The Creator Continues ‘CHROMAKOPIA’ Rollout With “NOID” Music Video
Tyler, the Creator pushes his way through a stiff crowd in the “NOID” music video. The sepia-toned visual follows the CHROMAKOPIA album announcement and the “ST. CHROMA” clip issued last week.
In “NOID,” the California rapper appears to battle with the effects of fame, including paranoia, harassment from fans, and a quest to be alone. One of the star-struck autograph seekers is played by acclaimed actress Ayo Edebiri. At the end of the self-directed clip, the 33-year-old reaches an empty lot where he is seemingly alone however his shadow does not reflect his movements.
“Someone’s keeping watch, I feel them in my shadow,” echoes the track to close.
CHROMAKOPIA is due next week on Oct. 28, with the Grammy-winner intentionally releasing the work during the week, breaking the new-era tradition of Friday drops.
“I think we should put music out again on Tuesdays instead of Fridays, for some reasons,” Tyler said last year in an interview with Nardwuar per Complex. “What do y’all think? My reasoning is, I know people think because of the weekend they can listen to stuff and the streams go up. And the streaming people are like, ‘Oh, the streams go up on the weekend!’ But I think it’s a lot of passive listening, at parties or people get the time to go to the gym, so they’re not really listening.”
He continued, “To work on an album for so long and put so much energy into it and for it to be released at midnight… just seems so disrespectful.”
CHROMAKOPIA is set to be Tyler, the Creator’s first full-length work since 2021’s Call Me When You Get Lost, which VIBE named the best Hip-Hop release that year. The album precedes his 10th annual Camp Flog Gnaw festival, taking place in Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium next month.
Headlined by Tyler, the Creator, additional performers include Playboi Carti, Daniel Caesar, Mustard & Friends, Kaytranada, The Marías, Omar Apollo, ScHoolboy Q, Faye Webster, Doechii, Concrete Boys, André 3000 performing New Blue Sun, and more.
