The cast has been revealed for an upcoming faith-based film from Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin.

Titled R&B, the movie stars a handful of talent including Serayah, Tyler Lepley, Phylicia Rashad, Walnette Santiago, Nijah Brenea, James Lee Thomas, Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, Jermaine Dupri, and Lecrae Moore. Per Deadline, Alanna Brown is set to direct with writers Michael Elliot, and Cory Tynan.

According to the outlet, R&B is a modern-day retelling of the story of Ruth and Boaz, a love story from the Bible. Set in Tennessee, it chronicles the story of a young woman who escapes the Atlanta music scene to care for an elderly widowed woman, and in the process finds the love of her life and gains the mother she never had.

“I’m so excited to be working with DeVon on this and future projects,” detailed the media mogul at the time. “I think in this polarizing world, and at a time where the world seems to be growing colder every day, we both share the common goal of wanting to spread some good. And there’s no better place than Netflix.”

Franklin and Perry serve as producers on R&B which is executive-produced by Angi Bones, Tony L. Strickland, and Bart Lipton. In a separate 2023 deal with Netflix, Perry currently has two upcoming releases — The Six Triple Eight starring Kerry Washington, and the series Beauty In Black.
