Tyler Perry Studios Inks Overall Deal With Courtney Glaude; Sets Feature ‘A Love’ As First Project

EXCLUSIVE: Tyler Perry Studios is getting into business with director, writer, producer Courtney Glaude (The Reading), tapping him as Executive Creator of Scripted and Unscripted as part of a new overall deal. Glaude has also set his first project under the pact – the feature film A Love, written and directed by Glaude. The psychological thriller explores the reality of domestic violence rooted in learned behavior from childhood. It will begin production next year.

In his new role, in addition to directing, Glaude will be developing and producing both scripted and unscripted content for television and film for Tyler Perry Studios.

Known for his ability to explore deep emotional and societal themes, Glaude pushes the boundaries of storytelling while elevating underrepresented voices. He rose to prominence with his critically acclaimed film The Reading, executive produced by Lee Daniels and starring Mo’Nique, on BET+. Previously, he wrote, directed, and produced award-winning shorts Row and Tag.

“Courtney is a creative force to be reckoned with,” said Perry.  “We’re so excited to get in business with him and to see what his imagination will bring to the table here at the studio.”

Glaude made his television directorial debut with Zatima (Season 3) and Ruthless (Season 6) for Tyler Perry Studios, while also contributing as a writer for Zatima (Season 4) and Ruthless (Season 6).

“I am grateful for the opportunity Mr. Perry has given me to join his team and I cannot wait to show the world what we have coming,” said Glaude. “God is good!”
