Tyrese Shares Trailer For ‘Beautiful Pain,’ Claims GF Left Him Over Ex-Wife-Obsessed Album
Tyrese has no problem with being transparent about the trials and triumphs of his life, including relationships. The R&B crooner now claims that his most recent girlfriend, Zelie Timothy, has broken up with him over his forthcoming Beautiful Pain album.
On Sunday (Feb. 11), the actor and singer used Kanye West, Katt Williams and 50 Cent’s names to clickbait the trailer for his double-album. He also shared his alleged new relationship status (although, he could be trolling).
“Me and Zelie just broke up over some dumb sh*t,” he captioned the post. “She demanded that I cancel my ALBUM because there’s too many songs about my ex on there. f**k does that even mean?” The ex he would be referring to is Samantha Lee, the woman with whom he navigated a tumultuous divorce.
In the trailer, the “Sweet Lady” singer shows the journey to creating his newest project with appearances from Will Smith, Lenny Kravitz, Snoop Dogg, Jeezy and El DeBarge. He also includes headline clippings from over the years regarding his divorce and loss of his mother.
In 2023, the 45-year-old told Kenny Burns that Beautiful Pain was inspired by his woes with Lee.
“I want to give y’all the heads up. For all of the uber-sensitive people. One thing y’all not are gon’ do, whether I’m a man, a woman, Black, whatever — y’all not gonna be able to stop me from speaking, walking and living in my truth,” he declared. “And if your brain is triggered by a man having real conversations about his thoughts and his feelings and what he experienced and you look at that as bashing or tearing down someone because they happen to be a woman, then your whole process is wrong.”
“Because my ex is doing ‘Miracle Mondays’ all over Instagram… taking shots at me every day, called my current girlfriend a jezebel, I just want y’all to keep the same energy with people being able to express themselves,” he continued. “She’s allowed to feel whatever she want to feel. She can use whatever platform she want. She can write a book, do a podcast.”
“I wish her well,” he added. “But if you can express your thoughts and feelings and play victim, then I can express my thoughts and my feelings through my music, through me writing books, me doing interviews. And you gotta hold that the way I gotta hold that because – it’s work.”
Pre-order for Beautiful Pain is “only be available for 10 hours” per Tyrese’s website. The album will fully be available in May.
