UMG Nashville joins forces with Timbaland's Mosley Music
Universal Music Group Nashville has joined forces with producer/artist/songwriter and four-time Grammy Award winner Timbaland's independent record label, Mosley Music in an effort to collectively explore rising talent in the music industry.
In a release, UMGN Chair and CEO Cindy Mabe said that the team has been working with Timbaland over the last year with the shared goal of developing great artists as well as bridging the gaps in sound and culture in country music.
Timbaland, who is currently touring with Missy Elliott, Ciara and Busta Rhymes, was a 2024 inductee into the Songwriters Hall of Fame for his work with everyone from Justin Timberlake and Kanye West to Madonna, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Sam Smith, Brad Paisley, Coldplay and Nickelback.
"Timbaland is one of the most iconic producers, songwriters, and artists in the last 30 years, merging genres and opening the doors to magnify cultural impact across genres," Mabe said in a release. "Hailing from Norfolk, Va., Timbaland’s reach and impact have been felt across pop, hip-hop, and country music including working with and bridging sounds for artists like Bubba Sparxxx, For King and Country, and Brad Paisley. Timbaland continues to push open the doors making innovative cultural impact by pushing boundaries and I am excited to join forces in breaking barriers in country music.”
Timbaland, born Timothy Zachery Mosley, founded Mosley Music in 2006 and launched with Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous," featuring Timbaland which went on to be a number-one single and the album sold more than 15 million copies. Mosley Music has also seen success with Bubba Sparks, One Republic, Chris Cornell, Keri Hilson and Timbaland's own releases.
The DJ-turned-rapper, songwriter and producer said in a statement that he has been aligned with Universal Music Group the majority of his career as an artist, so UMG Nashville felt like the right place for a country partnership.
"I love their mission of taking chances on special artists to meet culture," Timbaland said. "Cindy, Chelsea, Charlene, Rob, Lori, Mike, and the rest of the team at UMG Nashville understand our vision and I know will be a great partner for us to continue to break artists.”
