Netflix has ordered a one-off interactive episode of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” the streamer announced on Wednesday.
The special will reunite series stars Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski and Carol Kane, and will serve as a final bow for the Tina Fey comedy following its conclusion back in January.
The untitled episode will make its debut on the platform in 2020.
“‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ was one of the first original comedy series on Netflix, and now it will be its first interactive comedy event,” Fey said in a statement. “Fans will be able to make choices on behalf of our characters, taking different story paths with, of course, different jokes. I think it’s a great fit for our show and will be a great way to officially complete the series.”
The previous series finale of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” ended with each of the four lead characters getting their version of a happy ending, but Kemper said in an interview with TheWrap that she hoped to get the chance to continue Kimmy’s story with a follow-up movie of some sort.
“It would be so much fun to revisit these characters and also the people who play them and the crew that creates their world, that would just be fun from a personal point of view,” Kemper said. “On the other hand, I think that is a really beautiful ending and give all the credit to the writers, because I think they wrapped up each characters’ story really beautifully and also in a really satisfying way.”
