Find unique flavors at this Louisville shop known for making 'best ice cream in Kentucky'
Some of the ice cream flavors change with the seasons at Louisville Cream, such as strawberry cookies and cream or pistachio honeycomb.
But there’s one flavor that will never leave the menu: banana pudding.
“It was immediately very popular,” the shop’s co-owner Darryl Goodner told the Courier Journal. “I think it’s because it really tastes like banana pudding. And it looks pretty.”
In 2021, the sweet treat was named best ice cream in Kentucky by the Food Network.
The flavor also serves as the base for the banana pudding sundae, which Goodner builds with a sliced fresh banana, vanilla wafers and torched-like marshmallows.
“The number one thing is no one makes ice cream like we do,” he said. “We really do make it the absolute hardest way possible. It’s a lot of hard work and we do it, because we really, really, really care about making sure we make the best ice cream we can.”
The shop proudly uses dairy from JD Country Milk in Russellville and serves homemade pastries.
After opening seven years ago, Louisville Cream has pints available in local grocery stores and is on the dessert menu at restaurants such as Jack Fry’s and Mayan Cafe.
