The Penguin, Season 1 (September 19, 2024)
There is a series spun-off from The Batman coming to Max that focuses on Gotham gangster Oswald Cobblepot (an unrecognizable Colin Farrell, who is also executive producing). Set to premiere on September 19, 2024, the aptly titled Penguin TV show also features Cristin Milioti in the cast as Carmine Falcone’s daughter, Sofia, and Clancy Brown as Sal Maroni – another powerful Gotham mobster famous for causing Harvey Dent’s transformation into Two-Face in the comics.
Joker: Folie á Deux (October 4, 2024)
A new variation of Harley Quinn will be introduced in the fall of 2024, as played by Lady Gaga, in director Todd Phillips’ follow-up to his unsettling drama inspired by Batman’s archnemesis. Joaquin Phoenix will also reprise his Oscar-winning role as Arthur Fleck in Joker: Folie á Deux, which will be a musical – making the Grammy-winning artist’s casting all the more perfect and the sequel a subject of strong fascination.
Harley Quinn, Season 5 - Max (November 2024)
More adventures featuring Kaley Cuoco's Harley, Lake Bell's Ivy, and more of Gotham's craziest and kookiest villains are on their way. Max's hit, animated — but not family-friendly — series, Harley Quinn, has been renewed for a fifth season that is set to premiere in November 2024.
Batman Azteca: Choque De Imperios (2024)
Some of the best animated DC movies reimagine Bruce Wayne's origin in a time before comic books existed, such as the 19th-Century-set Elseworlds story, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight. According to a Warner Bros. press release, expected in 2024 is a film that sees the Dark Knight's crusade begin hundreds of years earlier in Batman Azteca: Choque De Imperios (which translates to "Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires").
The Batman: Part II (October 2, 2026)
Despite a formal announcement at CinemaCon by co-writer and director Matt Reeves in April 2022, the follow-up to his refreshing new vision of Gotham was not given an official greenlight, release date, and title until early 2023. October 2, 2026 is when fans can see Robert Pattinson put the cape and cowl back on for The Batman: Part II, which still exists in its own universe outside of fellow cinematic Elseworlds story, Joker, and James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU plans.
Batman: Caped Crusader, Season 2 (TBD)
The first season of Amazon Prime's new animated adventures of the Dark Knight in 1940s Gotham was an instant hit and ended with an intriguing cliffhanger. Executive producer Bruce Timm told The Wrap that Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 still has a while to go as scripts and recording sessions are just now getting started.
Batman Ninja Vs. Yakuza League (TBD)
One of the most underrated Batman movies, 2018's Batman Ninja, is an anime-style adventure that sees the Dark Knight and others accidentally transported to Feudal Japan. He will return to this world in the upcoming follow-up, Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League, in which he must face a deadly, alternate version of the Justice League.
The Brave And The Bold (TBD)
In addition to Robert Pattinson’s second outing, there will be yet another version of Batman — as part of the new DCU continuity — hitting the big screen. The Brave and the Bold will also partner the Dark Knight with his own estranged son, Damian Wayne, to serve as his Robin. The Flash director Andy Muschietti has been tapped to helm the film, but — according to a comment on James Gunn's Instagram (via ComicBook.com) from November 2023 — no script exists yet.
Bat-Family, Season 1 (TBD)
Spun-off from Merry Little Batman is the upcoming animated series, Bat-Family. According to THR, this Amazon original will chronicle the daily struggles of the titular super-family consisting of Bruce, Alfred Pennyworth, and Damian, who has abandoned the Robin mantle to be called "Little Batman" now, apparently.
More than eight decades after Bob Kane and Bill Finger created Batman, the DC Comics titan is still as popular as ever, if not more. With the amount of live-action Batman movies and TV shows (and counting) featuring him in some capacity on the rise, it is clear that this hero will lead a legacy that will forever stand the test of time.
