Night Swim - January 5, 2024
When it comes to upcoming 2024 movies in the horror genre there’s a lot to look forward to, starting in January with Night Swim. Following the success of M3GAN in 2023 in January, Blumhouse and Atomic Monster have set up another scary movie for early next year with Night Swim. The thriller will be about a hidden terror in the depths of a backyard swimming pool. The movie is set to star 2023 Oscar nominee Kerry Condon along with Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s Wyatt Russell.
Founders Day - January 19, 2024
After another American holiday was turned into a slasher in late 2023 with Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving, early 2024 is offering up Founders Day. In the United States, Founder’s Day is the celebration of Great Britain accepting defeat in the American Revolutionary War in 1782. This movie is a “political slasher” about a small town that becomes the target of a series of killings being executed by a mysterious red-masked person leading up to the election of a new mayor.
Lisa Frankenstein - February 9, 2024
Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda Williams has found her feature film debut with horror rom-com, Lisa Frankenstein. The movie was written by Diablo Cody, who previously penned Juno and Jennifer’s Body, and it stars Kathryn Newton, Cole Sprouse and Carla Gugino. Lisa Frankenstein follows a teen girl (Newton) living in 1989 who decides to reanimate a handsome corpse from the Victorian Era (Sprouse) and make him into the man of her dreams. This sounds like a fun twist on the classic Frankenstein story!
Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 - February 16, 2024

After the $100,000 British slasher turned a profit with a 5.2 million box office haul another movie is well on the way and expected to come out around one year after the first installment. Per the writer/director to THR, in the second movie Pooh and his friends will be “leaving the 100 Acre Wood to take their fight to the quiet community of Ashdown!”

Baghead is a figure that people seek out in order to get in touch with their loved ones, but little do they know the price they must pay to bring back the dead for a few short moments. Baghead will be Alberto Corredor’s feature film debut after he helmed a short film based on the same concept.
The First Omen - April 5, 2024
It’s been over 30 years since a movie from The Omen franchise has been released in the form of the TV movie, Omen IV: The Awakening. After that film was not received well, it’s understandable why its studio took a break from the supernatural horror series, but it’s coming back this spring with The First Omen. The movie will serve as a prequel to the original 1976 The Omen as an American woman is sent to work at a church in Rome and comes across a disturbing conspiracy about the birth of an Antichrist.
Untitled Universal Monster Movie - April 19, 2024
Scream has been revitalized in the past few years with the help of filmmakers, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. After making the fifth and sixth Scream installments, they are helming an untitled Universal monster movie starring Scream star Melissa Barrera along with Kathryn Newton, Dan Stevens, Kevin Durand and Angus Cloud. Plot details for the upcoming movie are being kept under the wraps right now, but given the release date we imagine we’ll find out sooner than later.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Dakota Fanning will star as an artist who gets stranded in an “expansive, untouched forest” in western Ireland and unknowingly becomes trapped with three strangers that are being “watched and stalked by mysterious creatures at night.” Ishana wrote the film based on a novel of the same name by A.M. Shine. Plus, her famed father is producing the film and New Line won a bidding war to back the film.
A Quiet Place: Day One - June 28, 2024
John Krasinski has successfully created an intriguing and scary world where humanity must stay silent in order to survive the aliens who have inhabited Earth. After A Quiet Place Part II became a theatrical hit, amidst pandemic challenges, another Quiet Place movie is on the way in 2024. This movie will be a standalone Quiet Place spinoff that is being directed by Pig’s Michael Sarnoski based on an idea by Krasinski, to what we imagine will dive into the invasion’s origins. The third Quiet Place film from the core franchise is expected to come after this movie as well.
Horrorscope - June 28, 2024
Horror fans can also look forward to Screen Gems’ Horrorscope next summer starring Spider-Man actor Jacob Batalon, Alana Boden, Adain Bradley and Avantika. The movie is about a group of college friends who get their horoscopes read and then begin dying off in ways that are connected to their readings. The movie is based on the 1992 novel by Nicholas Adams and serves as a feature film debut for writer/directors Anna Halberg and Spenser Cohen, per Deadline.

M. Night Shyamalan’s next feature after A Knock at the Cabin awaits with Trap. Per The Sixth Sense filmmaker, the movie is a “psychological thriller set at a concert,” according to Deadline. The Trap release date is set for August.
Speak No Evil - August 9, 2024
One of the most messed up horror movies of 2022 was Danish film Speak No Evil, which debuted at Sundance before landing on Shudder. Now, Hollywood is already remaking the movie about a family’s weekend vacation gone terribly wrong. The upcoming movie will star Mackenzie Davis and James McAvoy and is being helmed by James Watkins.
Alien: Romulus - August 16, 2024
The filmmaker behind the Don’t Breathe movies, Fede Alvarez, is set to put his mark on the Alien franchise next with Alien: Romulus, coming next fall. While we don’t know much about the plot, it’s reportedly a standalone Alien movie that will not be directly connected to the other films. The cast includes Mare of Easttown’s Cailee Spaeny, Dora and the Lost City of Gold’s Isabela Merced and Shadow & Bone’s Archie Renaux. Original Alien filmmaker Ridley Scott has already seen the movie, per the film’s director, and apparently told him it’s “fucking great.” So, it’s time to get excited!!

Smile 2 - October 18, 2024
Smile told the story of Sosie Bacon’s Dr. Rose Cutter, a therapist working at a psychiatric ward who becomes terrorized by a mysterious entity that takes over human bodies and makes them smirk as they get violent. After Parker Finn’s Smile was a huge success during the 2022 Halloween season, Paramount set an official release date for a sequel for the next spooky season. Details are thin about how the second Smile movie will be approached, including casting, but it’s great to see this original horror concept getting a sequel!
