All Upcoming Star Wars Films and Shows Releasing 2024 and Beyond
The upcoming slate of Star Wars films and shows is packed. We may not have had a Star Wars movie in cinemas since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but that’s all set to change very soon.
Not only are we due several big-screen Star Wars movies, but a whole load of exciting series on Disney+. From The Mandalorian & Grogu to Ahsoka: Season 2, here’s everything coming out of the Star Wars universe in 2024 and beyond.
There is one Star Wars film you won’t be seeing, however: Ewan McGregor says Obi-Wan Kenobi was meant to have a movie.
Upcoming Star Wars movies and TV shows
Disney
A companion piece to 2022’s Tales of the Jedi, this six-part animated series focuses on the dark side of the Force. It features cameos from the biggest Sith and Imperials around, include Darth Vader, General Grievous, and Admiral Thrawn. All six episodes release on Star Wars Day, May 4, 2024.

The second Star Wars series releasing 2024 on Disney+, this one tells a murder-mystery tale 200 years before the events of the prequels, one in which the Jedi are at the height of their powers. If that’s the case, why are they turning up dead? Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae’s Jedi master is on the case.

A live-action series taking place in the same time frame as The Mandalorian, this skews younger than the more adult-oriented The Acolyte, a coming-of-age tale directed by Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts. The plot follows four kids who embark on an adventure after making a big discovery on their home planet. Jude Law stars.

One of the brightest jewels in Star Wars’ crown, Andor released in 2022 to critical acclaim. Keenly aware of what it's onto, Disney commenced filming its follow-up immediately, but production was paused due to the Hollywood strikes. Andor season 2 continues the story of thief-turned-rebel spy Cassian Andor, five years before Rogue One.

Ahsoka’s finale attracted 863k concurrent viewers, according to Samba TV, which is higher than Andor’s final episode (591k) but lower than The Mandalorian (1.5M). Ahsoka season 2 will once again follow Jedi Ahsoka Tano and her fight against the evil Admiral Thrawn.

The Mandalorian premiered 2019 on Disney+, so the fact The Mandalorian & Grogu is set to hit cinemas seven years later speaks to the concept’s endurance. Pedro Pascal plays a bounty hunter who travels around with a small green alien - what’s not to like? The Mandalorian co-creator Jon Favreau will direct.

With The Mandalorian & Grogu the first Star Wars movie in cinemas since 2019, Taika Waititi's unnamed Star Wars movie is set to be the second. The Thor: Ragnarok director not only helms this, but is also on co-writing duties.

Logan director James Mangold helms this ambitious movie set 25,000 years in the past. It chronicles the inception of the Jedi Order founded by the very first Jedi Knights. Mangold has his hands full developing Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, so he’s appointed Andor scribe Beau Willimon as lead writer.

Daisy Ridley returns to the role of Rey in this upcoming film that continues the Skywalker trilogy. Directed by Ms. Marvel's Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, it focuses on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order 15 years after the final battle with Emperor Palpatine.
