Why did Usher delete his entire X (formerly Twitter) feed? Well, apparently he didn’t — even though the topic was a trending conversation on the social media platform on Sunday (Sept. 22).

“Account got hacked and damn y’all ran with it!” Usher wrote on X at 6:13 p.m. ET on Sunday, after commentary and theories on him deleting his history on X poured in. Previous posts on his X account also reappeared at that time. “See you tonight at Intuit Dome.”

Just before Usher posted the update, Billboard had reached out to a representative for the singer for comment regarding his X account.

Usher, who mentioned the Intuit Dome in his update, is set to perform at the Los Angeles arena for the second night in a row on Sunday. The Usher: Past, Present, Future Tour makes its away to Oakland, California, next, before traveling to cities in Texas, Florida and more.

Some posts from users on X on Sunday questioned the timing of what appeared to be a social media cleanse in light of Usher’s professional relationship with music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who was arrested last week on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges. Usher worked with him from a young age; their history goes back to the singer’s 1994 debut album, which Combs executive produced.

“For decades, Sean Combs … abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct,” read documents obtained by Billboard. Combs, who pleaded not guilty, was denied bail at his Sept. 17 arraignment. If convicted of the charges, Combs faces a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum of life behind bars.

Along with Usher’s name trending on Sunday was pop star P!nk, whose X feed also appeared to suddenly be deleted. Billboard contacted a rep for P!nk, but did not receive a response at press time. Her X posts/tweets also had not been recovered at this time.
