Usher Suffers Neck Injury, Postpones First Three Nights Of Past Present Future Tour

Usher has postponed two more tour dates. The announcement comes after he already cancelling the opening night of his Past Present Future Tour due to a neck injury he suffered while rehearsing.

After a successful, sold-out run of his My Way Las Vegas residency, Usher announced his highly anticipated Past Present Future Tour in February. The 17-city trek was announced in celebration of his 30-year career and latest album, Coming Home.

“Earlier this week, I suffered an injury to my neck while rehearsing to provide my fans with the greatest Usher show of all time,” he informed fans on his Instagram on Thursday (Aug. 15). “My hope was that with physical therapy and medical treatment, I would be able to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night. Unfortunately, the injury has not healed yet, and my doctors have instructed me not to perform any shows this week. The good news is that the doctors are saying that with appropriate rest and treatment, I should be ready to commence the tour in Washington, D.C., on August 20th.”

The iconic R&B crooner added, “I love my fans and thank you for understanding that this injury must be healed so that I can give you the 100% excellence that you expect from an Usher show and that I will be on stage in your city very soon.”

The Aug. 14 show at State Farm Arena in Atlanta has been rescheduled for Dec. 9, as Aug. 16 has been changed to Dec. 10, and Aug. 17 to Dec. 12.

Usher initially announced the postponement of the tour’s opening night first, sharing that he needed to “give my body a second to rest and heal.” He didn’t reveal that he had any injuries at the time.

“For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans,” the “Nice and Slow” singer wrote in a since-deleted post. “I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show.”

“You’re still going to get a bit of the past, some of the present and a unique look into the future on the rescheduled date but you’ll also be getting 100% of me,” he continued. “The last thing I want to ever do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to start. However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I can’t physically give you my best. My team will be sharing news of the rescheduled date soon. I can’t wait to celebrate this legacy with you.”

Usher has kept busy since the end of last year, as he performed 100 shows with his viral Las Vegas residency ending in Dec. 2023 and headlined the 2024 Super Bowl. The Past Present Future Tour is set to run through May 2025.
