Vanilla Ice, Rob Base coming to Davenport in September

Vanilla Ice and Rob Base are bringing rap hits to Rhythm City Casino’s Event Center on Friday, September 13 at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and are available online here or at The Market at Rhythm City, 7077 Elmore Avenue in Davenport.

Vanilla Ice, aka Robert Van Winkle, sold 10 million albums in four months and hit number one on the Billboard charts in 1991 with “Ice Ice Baby,” the first rap song to top the Billboard Hot 100. He’s sold over 25 million albums worldwide and has sold over 160 million individual songs and counting. He won two MTV Awards, a People’s Choice Award and was nominated for a Grammy. His acting credits include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, Cool As Ice, The Helix Loaded, The New Guy, The Bros, Big Money Hustlas, That’s My Boy, Ridiculous Six and Sandy.

Rob Base is from Harlem, New York and began playing with groups like Sure Shot Seven, Cosmic 3 MCs, and Freedom Force. Profile Records released his debut album with DJ EZ Rock, “It Takes Two” in 1988. The title track and the album were certified platinum by the RIAA on June 12, 1989 and December 28, 1989, respectively, and produced three Top 10 hits.
