Variety STL, COCA showcase inclusive ‘Finding Nemo Jr.’ production
ST. LOUIS – One partnership is allowing children of all ages and needs to take the stage with an inclusive production of “Finding Nemo Jr.”
Over 60 kids will play a role in the show, which is presented by Variety STL and the Center of Creative Arts (COCA).
Jaron Bentely is playing Nemo in the production. He says his parents’ excitement mirrors his own as he and 60 other kids prepare to take the stage.
“It’s been pretty good; we are starting to get the words down and all that stuff,” he said.
Director Lara Teeter says the cast is composed of actors and actresses ranging from ages nine through 20.

“Everyone in this room has needs, and we do our best to be aware of them and recognize them, but everyone is treated the same,” he said.
The musical is based on the movie that made viewers laugh and cry when it hit theaters in 2003. Teeter says the name of the game is inclusion.
“Someone might be able to sing loudly; another kid or teen might not be able to sing loudly, but they are singing,” he said.
The performance will be held in the COCA building theatre on Washington Avenue, which seats 400 people.
The musical runs from Aug. 9–11. For tickets, click here.
