'The View' co-host Sunny Hostin doesn't 'believe in abortion,' disagrees with Roe ruling
"The View" co-host Sunny Hostin is sharing her "radical" stance following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, saying she does not believe in abortion.
Although Hostin disagreed with the court's ruling Friday that Americans no longer have a constitutional right to abortion, she said in Monday's episode of the daytime talk show that she does not support abortion "at any time," including pregnancies by incest.
"I don’t believe in abortion, at any time. I don’t believe in any exception to it," Hostin said.
When co-host Sara Haines asked if that included cases of incest, Hostin doubled down on her view, much to Haines' surprise.
“That’s considered very radical for many people, and it’s because I’m Catholic and that’s my faith," Hostin said.

Hostin said that although she agreed with Justice Samuel Alito's ideology on the "sanctity of life," she criticized his ruling because "the fact that he clearly is using his religion and wielding it is pretty terrible.”
"This has always been a very difficult discussion for me, but what is not difficult for me is the fact that this is an activist Supreme Court, and they should not be deciding the law based on their faith," Hostin said, receiving claps from the audience.

Earlier in the episode, Hostin critiqued the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade ruling in light of the hight court's decision last Thursday that Americans have a right to publicly carry firearms without a license.
“The court is basically saying it’s time to welcome all this new life yet we can shoot them with our newly available, completely unrestricted guns," Hostin said. "That conflict, it was sort of shocking to me. It’s unbelievable that precedent doesn’t seem to matter anymore.”
Whoopi Goldberg said that while she "appreciates everybody's religion," she does not want the autonomy of her decision-making to be taken away.
"I don't want anybody coming in my house, telling me how to raise my daughter and what she needs because they don't know," Goldberg said. "I appreciate everybody's religion, but I do not subscribe to your religion. I don't ask you to subscribe to mine."

Goldberg had previously spoken out about abortion access after a leaked draft of the Supreme Court decision in May indicated the court would reverse the 1973 case.
"Getting an abortion is not easy. Making that decision is not easy. It's not something people do lightly," Goldberg said on the May 3 episode. "If you don't have the wherewithal to understand that … then you're not looking out for me as a human being … and that is not okay."
