The View Debuts Revamped Set for Season 28 — See Photos, Find Out Who Sings New Theme Song

The View just got an extreme makeover.

After 10 years, and more than 2,100 episodes taped at ABC Broadcast Center (at 30 West 67th Street), the daytime chat show has relocated to a new, state-of-the-art studio in the Walt Disney Company’s newly completed Manhattan headquarters in Hudson Square. Monday’s Season 28 premiere revealed the sleek, multi-story set, as well as a brand-new theme song.

“We are kicking off Season 28 in a brand new studio,” moderator Whoopi Goldberg acknowledged at the top of the program. “People have been working hard, all summer long, with the brand new opening [and] the brand new theme song called ‘This Version,’ performed by Leona Lewis and written by the all-time fabulous and brilliant Grammy Award-winning Diane Warren.” It replaces the previous theme song, Brandy Norwood and Nicole Scherzinger’s “For My Girls,” which debuted in Season 25.

As first confirmed by People, only one part of the previous View set remains. “We kept the table, because that was new last year, and that remains the centerpiece as always,” executive producer Brian Teta explained. “But at the same time, everything around it is new and modern and sleek. It makes it familiar to what people like about The View, but also elevates it to the next level.”

This year, Goldberg sets a View record as she begins her 18th consecutive season on the dais, beating the record previously held by the series’ creator, the late, great Barbara Walters, who stayed through Season 17. Goldberg is joined at the Hot Topics table by fellow returning panelists Joy Behar, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro.
