'Vikings' Sneak Peek: Rollo's French Lessons Aren't Going Well

Learning a new language is never easy, but it rarely requires a stunt double.

In the exclusive sneak peek above from “Mercy,” tonight’s new episode of History’s Vikings, we see that the show is still mining the transformation of Rollo (Clive Standen) from vicious brute to respectable French nobleman for laughs.

His French lessons start off harmless enough as he repeats after his instructor, “My name is Duke Rollo.” It’s when he’s asked to extend a proper, more complicated greeting that things get interesting. He struggles to say, “I am delighted to make your acquaintance.” Then won’t even try to utter the following: “I was a savage. But now I am a man of great wealth and civility.”
