Vince Gill gives update on Amy Grant's recovery, says 'best thing' for her is to 'just be still'
Amy Grant is making progress on the road to recovery.
The Christian singer, who was injured in a bicycling accident in July, wasn’t able to attend the red carpet and taping for husband Vince Gill’s special “CMT Giants: Vince Gill” in Nashville, Tennessee, on Monday.
Gill gave an update on his wife’s health during an interview with "Entertainment Tonight" at the event.
"She's doing great," Gill said. "She's pretty torn up that she couldn’t be here tonight, but with her accident and all of that, they kind of deemed that the best thing for her to do is just be still. That’s hard for her because she is very active."

Although Grant was unable to give moral support in person, Gill said her presence never wavers.
"She knows that she is well thought of, well loved and represented tonight, so it's all good," Gill said.
On July 27, Grant was cycling near a golf course with a friend when she hit a pothole, Grant's representative Velvet Kelm confirmed to USA TODAY. She was wearing a bicycling helmet at the time of the accident.
First responders transported the singer to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where she spent two nights as doctors treated Grant for injuries sustained in the accident.
The accident forced Grant to postpone the shows on her fall tour, which have been rescheduled for early next year, according to an August statement from Grant's management team. She hopes to return to the road in November for a holiday tour with Michael W. Smith.
Her Christmas concert residency at the Ryman Auditorium with Gill – a Nashville holiday tradition – remains planned for this December.

Vince Gill emotionally honorsinjured wife Amy Grant in performance with daughter Corrina
Gill paid tribute to Grant during a performance in Nashville in August, singing his 2019 single "When My Amy Prays" near the end of his show. The lyrics were poignantly changed to “when my mama prays” as Gill and Grant’s 21-year-old daughter, Corrina, joined Gill onstage for the heartfelt tune.
"Amy and I grew up very different. She never missed church and I never went. And just because we got married, I wasn't compelled to say, 'Hey, I'm going to go to church every weekend.' So there's the truth, there's your honesty in the song," Gill said of the song’s inspiration in a 2019 interview.
"We all try to change each other sometimes. When we find our paths with someone, we want them to be more like I am and you want me to be more like you are. And it's just not going to happen. The best way to love somebody is at their worst. If you can find a way to love somebody at their worst, you're going to win."
