'The Voice' went to church with some inspirational performances
It was Sunday all over again on The Voice on Monday night as many of the contestants took us to church. In the past, contestants on the show have fared well when they’ve gone gospel, and with four people going home on Tuesday, they were all praying to make the cut.
While Spensha Baker sang “My Church,” by Maren Morris, Kyla Jade wanted everyone to go to her grandfather’s church. “My grandfather built his church,” she said. “Just a one-room building. It was a communal family church. You should be able to go to church and be revived. You should be able to get what you need. That’s how my grandfather’s church made me feel. That’s the feel I want to give.” And Kyla did just that with a heavenly performance of “Let It Be.”
Rayshun LaMarr has been giving off gospel vibes all season, and it continued Monday night with a soulful version of John Lennon’s “Imagine.” Finally, country crooner Kaleb Lee praised the Lord with the classic hymn, “It Is Well With My Soul,” which dates back to 1873.
The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC. Watch clips and full episodes of The Voice for free on Yahoo View.
