Whether you’ve tuned in for years or it’s your first time watching, how to vote for Dancing With the Stars can be as confusing as the choreography that hits the dance floor each week.
Dancing With the Stars, a spin-off of the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing, premiered in 2005 as a dance competition series which pairs celebrities with professional dancers. Each week, the pairs perform choreographed dances and compete against each other for judges’ points and audience votes. The couple that receives the lowest combined total of judges’ points and audience votes is eliminated each episode until only one pair remains, who are declared the champions and win the coveted Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.

In Season 26, Dancing With the Stars introduced the “judges’ save,” which allowed the show’s judges to stop one pair from getting eliminated each season. Before his death in April 2023, former judge Len Goodman served as the Head Judge and made the final call about who got saved if there needed to be a tiebreaker. According to TV Line, the “judges’ save” was removed for Season 32.

How can you vote for Dancing With the Stars? Viewers can vote online or by text for Dancing with the Stars starting on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET, which is the same time the show starts airing live on the eastern time zone. Voting closes during the last commercial break after all the couples have performed on the eastern time zone broadcast. Voting isn’t available for streaming services or later broadcasts on the western or central time zones.
