She was sentenced to 12 years in prison and was released in February 2021 on good behavior. Following Delvey’s announcement, many fans criticized Dancing With the Stars for casting a convicted criminal. “The DWTS producers have honestly lost their minds since Anna Delvey is on house arrest pending potential immigration….” a Reddit user wrote. Another user commented, “So let’s all boycott. I’m not watching the show until she’s eliminated. What a poor choice of casting. We can say no though and we need to start putting our foot down. Who Were the Rumored Dancing With the Stars Season 33 Cast Members?
Cris Judd
The speculation about the possible end of Jennifer Lopez’s marriage to Ben Affleck reportedly made her exes look pretty attractive to Dancing With the Stars producers, according to The Daily Mail. The first of those was Cris Judd, who the pop superstar met when he was hired to dance in her music video “Love Don’t Cost a Thing back” in the year 2000. It was a whirlwind romance for Lopez and Judd who got married in September of 2001 and split in June of 2002.
Casper Smart
The other JLo ex who was reportedly in the mix for Dancing With the Stars Season 33 is Casper Smart, per The Daily Mail. He dated JLo back in 2011, for way longer than Judd, five years – even if the two never tied the knot. Another dancer, Smart met JLo when he was a backup dancer on her tour, so at least we know he would’ve fit right in on the dancing competition.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard
Blanchard, a Munchhausen-by-proxy survivor, rose to prominence when she was convicted of second-degree murder for the death of her mother Dee Dee, who subjected Gypsy-Rose to lifelong physical, mental, and medical abuse. Blanchard was released from prison in December 2023 and has released a book and appeared on The Kardashians. Her appearance on Dancing With the Stars seemed unlikely, however, as Blanchard is currently pregnant, and due to give birth in January 2025.
A Baby Reindeer Cast Member
One of the biggest shows on Netflix this year, Baby Reindeer stars Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning were both on the radar for Dancing With the Stars Season 33, per The Daily Mail. Gadd wrote the Netflix drama, and also plays the lead character, while Gunning plays his real-life stalker. The show is on track to become one of Netflix’s most popular shows of all time.
Joan Vassos
According to The Daily Mail, the first Golden Bachelorette, Vassos was reportedly also in the running to compete on Dancing With the Stars. The 61-year-old, who left early on in Gerry Turner’s season to take care of her daughter, would’ve pulled double duty on ABC with her Golden Bachelorette season airing at the same time as Dancing with the Stars.
Caitlin Clark
A WNBA player and former college basketball star, Clark was reportedly one of the show’s number one targets. But Clark also reportedly said no to the possibility of being in the show, per The Daily Mail. To be fair, there might be some overlap between the show and the WNBA season, which ends in mid-September.

Shohei Ohtani
Another athlete the show was rumored to be interested in was Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani, per The Daily Mail. However, with the MLB season going until the end of September, and the Dodgers in first place in the National League West, which puts them in a pretty good position to qualify for the postseason, Ohtani’s participation in Dancing With the Stars seemed pretty unlikely from the start.
Sutton Stracke
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Stracke was also rumored to be heading to the ballroom. And anonymous source on the gossip site Bravo and Cocktails read: “ABC has signed the newest Southern fan favorite of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills up to dance on Dancing with The Stars, her huge popularity and quirky personality will keep people entertained next season.”

Parvati Shallow
The Traitors took the reality TV world by storm, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see someone who recently appeared on that show on Dancing With the Stars. (That someone happened to be Phadedra Parks). However, Dancing With the Stars sparked theories Shallow was joining when its official Instagram account favorited a video of the reality TV star, a Survivor alum, back in December.
A TikTok Star
There was plenty to choose from, but the Daily Mail reported that several TikTok stars were in contention for a chance to star in Season 33 of the show. Considering the other stars rumored to be on the show, adding a TikTok star would’ve brought something different to the cast. Maybe someone like Alix Earle or Jake Shane for next season?
Biden, Harris, or Trump Relative
This one is self-explanatory. With the elections coming up in November, The Daily Mail reported that the show would love to get a relative of either Biden, Harris, or Trump in the show – even if it’s not a close relative. Someone like Mary Trump would’ve been an obvious choice, but there was also Ella Emhoff and even one of Biden’s granddaughters.
