Ever since Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan first sparked romance rumors in late 2023, almost the entire world seems to have been as invested in their relationship as the lovebirds themselves. It's precisely that reason why the world also seems to be as invested in what they believe could be a breakup tease.

On July 30, 2024, Sabrina Carpenter took to TikTok to post a video that many are interpreting could be a hint that she and Barry Keoghan are no more. In the clip, which is set to the outro of her number one hit song “Please Please Please," Carpenter looks straight into the camera, blows a kiss, waves goodbye, deuces, and finally gives a salute as the lyrics go: “If you wanna go and be stupid / Don't do it in front of me.”

“Me saying goodbye to him bc I wasn't his #1 streamed artist,” Carpenter wrote in the video, which was left captionless.

Of course, people started speculating as soon as the video was posted. “Ran to the Instagram on all fours to see if Barry got the boot,” a user wrote in the comments. “yes hard launch the break up!!!” a second one commented. “Are they really not a thing anymore?” a third one asked.

“Did they break up or not??” someone else added. “WAIT THEY BROKE UP?” another comment reads, with the Sour Patch Kids account even coming it for the pun with: “That truly was short n sweet.” (At the moment, Carpenter is in full promo mode for her upcoming studio album Short n’ Sweet, which will be released on August 23, 2024.)

At the time of writing, Carpenter's video has accumulated over 18 million views and comments keep piling up. While we don't have a definitive answer, we would suggest taking everything with a grain of salt — or a million grains. While speculation is rampant in the comment section of her TikTok, Carpenter's pinned post on Instagram is still a clip from the “Please Please Please” music video starring Keoghan and, ultimately, celebs' private lives are, well, private.
