Walking Dead Ahead: Where Do We Go From Negan?
Fetch it, boy! Good, Rick, goooood boy. This is Walking Dead Ahead! It takes a big man to admit when he was wrong. It takes an even bigger man to admit when he was half-right (told ya that Abe was dead red meat)!
So yeah, The Walking Dead tried to throw us off its scent by tossing another death into the mix and doing what we all expected… after something we only kind of expected. Great job, writers, that really made those six months of waiting and wondering all worth it.
But let’s look ahead — Morgan must find Carol somewhere out in the wilderness, because they end up together in The Kingdom. Comic readers will recognize it as home to King Ezekiel and his pet tiger, Shiva! This brings us to the point in the series where it’s no longer about the tiny world that Rick and the gang inhabit — before someone, usually Rick, sometimes Carol, blows it all to hell — but instead, we see a network of communities that talk, trade, and terrorize each other. Civilization has finally found a way… and Rick will destroy it.
Although Rick is already claiming that Negan is in charge now, he must be secretly plotting his revenge, perhaps with Eugene’s new found bullet-making facility, because nobody, and I mean NOBODY, makes Rick ugly-cry snot bubbles without bloody vengeance in the works.
And if the writers knew what was good for them, they’d lift this next storyline directly from the comics, because the twisted Carl and Negan mentorship is bizarrely beautiful fertile ground that gives Carl an actual purpose after six seasons of losing him and yelling his name. Either way, we’re in for more bloodshed and less snot bubbles on Walking Dead Ahead.
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
