If they weren’t Daryl and Carol and therefore indestructible, we’d be seriously stressed after watching Sunday’s The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. “L’Invisible” left both of our heroes at death’s door, and it sure didn’t look like death was gonna wait for them to knock before letting them in!

At Maison Mère, Carol and Rémy set about searching for Daryl and Julien, respectively. When an opportunity to speak with Codron presented itself, Carol made the most of it, describing Daryl as “my brother… my only surviving family.” Moved — or as moved as Codron could appear to be with his face so beat up — he revealed the location of The Nest. Carol invited Rémy to leave with her, but of course, he wouldn’t abandon his husband.

What Rémy would do, however, was rat out Carol to Genet in order to be reunited with Julien. Thinking fast, Carol told Pouvoir’s leader that she was trying to find Daryl in order to kill him. Genet was only too happy to help with that. She gathered up a small army and drove Carol to Mont-Saint-Michel. Only once they’d arrived did Carol realize that Genet planned to turn her soldiers and dose them with her patented super-walker formula.

As a matter of fact, Genet intended to do the same to Carol and couldn’t fathom why she would object. “I’m giving you what you asked for,” Genet said. “You’re going to kill your friend.” Yikes!

While all of this was going on, back at The Nest, Sylvie escaped from captivity and desperately tried to find Laurent in order to save him from “the ceremony.” Instead, she found herself cornered by Losang’s guards on the roof and, in the ensuing struggle, plunged to her death. “Her faith was weak,” remarked Losang, who might well be even worse than Genet!

As Daryl, Isabelle and Fallou made their way into The Nest, Losang revealed that the walker who would bite Laurent to prove that he wouldn’t turn would be… Aw, man, that’s so, so, so wrong! Sylvie! Luckily, the boy’s protectors were able to leap into action in time to save him. While Fallou spirited Laurent away to the cave in which he’d been secretly training with Daryl, Isabelle, rightly worried about Mr. Gruff But Tender, stayed behind.

Daryl engaged in arguably his fiercest fight since his epic throwdown with Beta. But alas, he and Isabelle still both wound up being captured, tortured, chained up and separated by a wall. After Daryl admitted that he’d found something in France — in other words, her — she whispered “I love you” in French. It was terribly poignant — and scary, as it felt like the kiss of death. The morning after, Losang had Isabelle taken away so he could plead his case. (Mm-hmm, sure.) And Daryl? Beyond hope, he was put to death.

Anybody else unclear on how Genet thinks she’s gonna control her super walkers? ’Cause as far as we’ve seen, she can’t. Drop your comments on the episode below.
