Want to spend a day in Iowa like Jason Momoa? Here's where to go, what to do

Action star and actor Jason Momoa walked the halls of Norwalk High School before he posed on Hollywood red carpets. Since graduating from the school in the nearby suburb of Des Moines, Momoa has graced TV screens on "Baywatch: Hawaii" and catapulted himself into superstardom as an A-list superhero in "Aquaman."

Despite becoming a small-town Iowa boy who grew up to be a big movie star, Momoa still comes home regularly to visit his mom, Coni, and dine at his favorite cafes and local stops.

Order breakfast Momoa style at the Waveland Cafe in Des Moines

If you want to start your day sunny side up, order the Momoa at Des Moines' Waveland Cafe, 4708 University Ave.

The Momoa includes a full order of hashbrowns topped with a full order of biscuits and gravy and two sunny side up eggs with a side of bacon for $24.50. The actor ate more than once at the Des Moines cafe during his trip home, according to social media posts from the restaurant and Momoa himself. He also stopped after attending the Academy Awards in March 2022.

Try lunch at southside favorites including Kung Fu Tap, Tasty Tacos

Momoa and his posse of friends or family are known to stop by Tasty Tacos for the restaurant's tacos with fluffy flour shells and soft drinks. If Momoa loves eating the Waveland for breakfast and brunch, he's Tasty Tacos' biggest fan for lunch. The restaurant, where he regularly dines, recently posted, "he blended right in with the lunch crowd" about the Hollywood A-lister.

He also stopped by B-Bops during his most recent visit and was spotted at Kung Fu Tap and Taco on the south side during his visit home.

Make a stop in the spirits section for Jason Momoa's Meili Vodka

Stock up on Meili Vodka at a Hy-Vee or Fareway location. Momoa and his business partner Blaine Halvorson signed hundreds of bottles for fans during meet and greets on Monday.

End the evening with a visit to In Confidence at Hotel Fort Des Moines

During an Instagram live on Monday evening that was later posted to his personal and Meili Vodka accounts, Momoa was in attendance at a private party at In Confidence in downtown Des Moines, 1000 Walnut St. The basement speakeasy, with a hidden entrance at Hobnob Coffee and Wine Bar in Hotel Fort Des Moines, opened last February.
