Watch the first 8 minutes of “Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets”
The latest installment of MTV's celebreality series sends Chet Hanks, Macy Gray, Tyler Posey and more to Colombia for a series of "secret missions."
Does spending two weeks in a Medellín, Colombia villa with a group strangers — all while attempting to execute challenging "secret missions" — sound like a "healing getaway" to you?
Yeah, me neither. But that's how MTV is describing Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets, which premieres Tuesday, July 23. Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive preview of the first eight minutes of the network's celebreality series, which stars actor/rapper/nepo baby Chet Hanks, Grammy-winning singer Macy Gray, former Real Housewives star Kim Zolciak, rapper O.T. Genesis, Olympic figure skater/commentator Johnny Weir, influencer Josie Conseco, and Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey.
Watch the preview below.
Villa of Secrets is the latest evolution of The Surreal Life, which originally premiered in 2003 on The WB with a cast featuring MC Hammer, Webster star Emmanuel Lewis, The Facts of Life star Mindy Cohn, former Motley Crüe frontman Vince Neil, actor Corey Feldman, and Baywatch's Brande Roderick. (Fun fact: It was originally titled The Surreal World — but producers were forced to change it after MTV and The Real World's Bunim-Murray production company objected.) The show later moved to VH-1, which revived the show in 2022 with Dennis Rodman, August Alsina, CJ Perry, Frankie Muniz, Kim Coles, Manny MUA, Stormy Daniels, and Tamar Braxton.

This time around, the celebrities will be joined Sloan, a "virtual host" who oversees the Colombian villa and will be giving her houseguests a series of missions to perform. "Throughout their time here, they'll confront their fears and reveal their deepest secrets," teases Sloan in the preview. "The goal of this Surreal experience is to complete all the missions and find out what it leads them to discover."

The first eight minutes will lead viewers to discover a few things about the guests as well. For one, Zolciak has already given up on pronouncing "Medellín" correctly. "I tell people I'm going to Med-a-lin, and they're like, 'No, bitch. That's not what it's called,'" she admits.
Also of note: Chet Hanks demonstrates his solid Donald Trump impression for Macy Gray, who finds it hilarious.
"Chet is cute," the singer says. "I don't know if I would date him... I do like men with a little melanin. But I've also dated white dudes, so let's go."
Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets premieres Tuesday, July 23, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
