Each episode of Saturday Night Live Season 50 has opened with a comedic take on the 2024 presidential election in the ultimate lead-up to tonight's pinch-me “Live from New York!” moment.

Vice Present Kamala Harris made a surprise stop in Studio 8H for a cameo with her SNL doppelganger Maya Rudolph.

In tonight's SNL Cold Open, Rudolph (as Kamala) says she needs a moment to herself and turns to have a heart-to-heart in her mirror where the real Kamala Harris sits facing her.

The two give each other a pep talk full of puns on Kamala’s name like “Kamala take my palm-ala” and “Keep Kamala and carry on-ala.” They also remark on how in tune they are with each other stating, “We know each other so well we even finish each other's… belief in the promise of America!”

The skit, which included a host of cameos from Andy Samberg as Doug Emhoff, Jim Gaffigan as Tim Walz and Dana Carvey as President Joe Biden, left the audience howling, but more importantly reminded viewers to head to the polls on Election Day.

The unexpected visit goes against executive producer Lorne Michaels' previous declaration that neither main candidate for president would appear on the variety show before the election.

“You can’t bring the actual people who are running on because of election laws and the equal time provisions,” Micheals said in early October. “You can’t have the main candidates without having all the candidates.”

(NBC execs must have gotten a new interpretation of the equal time law.)

The hit sketch show has a rich history of politicians dropping by 30 Rock to connect with the public, dating back to the first season when President Gerald Ford uttered the now-famous line that kicks off every episode.

A bevy of political figures have tried their hands at sketch comedy, including President Barack Obama, John McCain and Al Gore.

Tonight's side-by-side comparison of a presidential hopeful and their SNL doppelganger follows a successful 2015 skit in which Hilary Clinton joined her impersonator Kate McKinnon. The two Hilary Clintons shared their election anxieties over a few stiff drinks.

Back in a 2008 cold open, Sarah Palin also popped by to share her thoughts on Tina Fey’s impression of her during a parody press conference.
